Project Executive - MEP Construction- 180-225k+


A leading MEP commercial contractor in the Sacramento area is seeking a Project Executive to join their leadership team. This is a newly created role driven by continued company growth, with the organization currently carrying a backlog of over $100 million in commercial MEP projects.


Position Overview

The Project Executive will provide senior oversight across multiple concurrent commercial mechanical projects, managing project teams, client relationships, and overall project delivery from preconstruction through closeout. This role reports directly to executive leadership and will play a key part in shaping the company's continued growth in the Sacramento market.


Responsibilities

  • Owns the project management department's performance, accountable for the overall health of the project portfolio including revenue, margin, schedule, and client satisfaction across all active mechanical work
  • Serves as the company's senior most relationship holder with top GC and owner accounts, reinforcing trust, resolving escalated issues, and positioning the company for repeat work across all mechanical scopes
  • Develops, leads, and holds accountable the Project Manager team, directly overseeing Senior PMs and PMs, setting performance expectations, conducting reviews, and building the bench through intentional coaching and development
  • Partners with preconstruction and operations on pursuits, engaging early on strategic bids and negotiated work to ensure scope, risk, and execution strategy are aligned before a project is awarded
  • Drives operational standards and continuous improvement, establishing and enforcing project management processes, tools, and best practices across the team to improve consistency, reduce risk, and protect margin company wide
  • Oversees project budgets, schedules, and overall financial performance across an assigned portfolio
  • Supports business development efforts and helps drive continued growth in the region
  • Ensures quality control, safety standards, and contractual compliance across all projects


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial MEP/mechanical construction
  • Proven experience managing large scale commercial mechanical projects, ideally $10M+ in individual project value
  • Prior experience in a Project Executive, Director of Operations, or senior Project Manager role with team leadership responsibility
  • Strong track record of client relationship management and business development support
  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of concurrent projects
  • Proficient in Procore, P6, or similar project management software
  • Must be able to work full time in the Sacramento, CA area
