OVERVIEW

BMWC is an industrial construction company seeking a Senior MEP Estimator/Estimator III to join the Project Services team. This position will support mechanical, plumbing, and process piping pursuits across industrial, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, laboratory, refinery, and specialty construction markets.

You will be part of a top-performing Project Services team and play a key role in developing accurate, well-supported estimates for complex mechanical construction projects. You will work closely with operations, project management, business development, BIM/VDC teams, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the pursuit process.

The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical estimating expertise or experience with estimating systems, data, and technology, with the ability to develop accurate, defensible, and well-documented estimates. This individual will help strengthen BMWC's processes, tools, and technical capabilities while serving as a lead estimator on complex pursuits, a technical resource for mechanical scopes, or a contributor to the advancement of estimating systems and best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior MEP Estimator/Estimator III, you will:

  • Develop mechanical, plumbing, and process piping estimates from conceptual, design development, and construction documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and review drawings, specifications, P&IDs, schedules, line lists, isometrics, and vendor/subcontractor proposals.
  • Identify scope gaps, estimate risks, constructability concerns, and key project cost drivers.
  • Prepare inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, clarifications, and proposal qualifications.
  • Support estimate reviews, bid leveling, value engineering efforts, budget development, and final proposal submissions.
  • Collaborate with operations, project management, BIM/VDC teams, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the pursuit process.
  • Maintain and improve estimating resources, including templates, assemblies, databases, historical cost information, and departmental tools.
  • Support advancements in estimating workflows, software utilization, quantity extraction, automation, and data management.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, MEP preconstruction, industrial construction, project engineering, BIM/VDC, or related construction and engineering disciplines.
  • Experience estimating mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, hydronic, process piping, steam, utility, or specialty piping systems.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, subcontractor scopes, vendor pricing, constructability reviews, and estimate risk analysis.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, estimating platforms, Navisworks, databases, or similar construction technology tools.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates may bring either deep mechanical estimating expertise or strong estimating systems, data, and technology experience, along with a desire to grow within MEP estimating.
