About Us
J Sports Academy is the Sports Day Camp of the Shames JCC on the Hudson, a non-sectarian community center providing meaningful experiences for individuals and families throughout their lives. Through a multi-sport and high-performance model, J Sports Academy offers engaging, skill-based programming that emphasizes teamwork, leadership, confidence, and a lifelong love of sport. We are a welcoming, inclusive community that values effort, sportsmanship, and growth-on and off the field.
Role Overview:
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Tennis Counselors. As a counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for campers to explore various sports and physical activities. If you have a passion for sports, enjoy working with children, and are excited about fostering a positive camp experience, we'd love to have you on board!
Timeline/Required Dates:
  • June 21st, June 25th, and June 27th: Staff Orientation
  • June 25th: Parent Orientation
  • June 29th - August 14th: Camp in Session
  • Monday-Friday: 8:15am-4:15pm

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure overall camper safety - physical, mental, emotional, and social health
  • Collaborate with camp directors, head tennis coaches, and co-counselors to carry out daily functions for campers and other camp matters
  • Supervise and participate in all camper activities
  • Assist in redirecting activities whenever necessary to keep children safe, engaged, and entertained
  • Assist Aquatics program by ensuring safety in the locker rooms and pool deck, overseeing buddy board/sheets, and swimming in the pool with campers as needed
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Requirements
  • Age 16 or older
  • Available to work all required dates
  • Experience as a high school or collegiate tennis athlete
  • Passion for working with children and playing sports
