Mental Health Worker - Involuntary Outpatient Commitment (IOC)

This Mental Health Worker role within the Involuntary Outpatient Commitment (IOC) program offers opportunities for professional growth, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a culture committed to recovery, dignity, and community stability. As a Mental Health Worker, you will provide comprehensive case management and care coordination services, helping court-ordered consumers access treatment, build community supports, and work toward greater independence. A typical day for a Mental Health Worker may include:
  • Providing comprehensive case management services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness enrolled in the Involuntary Outpatient Commitment (IOC) program
  • Conducting ongoing assessments of consumers throughout program enrollment to identify needs, monitor progress, and support recovery goals
  • Developing and updating individualized, person-centered rehabilitation plans in collaboration with consumers, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
  • Coordinating and facilitating access to behavioral health treatment, medical care, housing, transportation, benefits, and other community resources
  • Delivering care coordination, health promotion, supportive counseling, crisis intervention, and transitional care services to promote stability in the community
  • Assisting consumers with treatment enrollment, establishing community supports, and connecting them with social service agencies and recovery resources
  • Collaborating closely with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, family members, and community providers to ensure coordinated, consumer-centered care
  • Maintaining accurate, timely documentation that meets billing, regulatory, and organizational standards
  • Providing transportation for consumers as needed to support access to treatment and essential services
  • Supporting the department's mission of helping consumers achieve recovery, maintain community stability, and progress toward greater independent living

  • License: Valid New Jersey driver's license required.
