SUMMARY: Provide leadership in the implementation of Mental Health (MH) processes, including support of in-school mental health staff (social workers, psychologists, interns, and other qualified MH staffing who support students in 65+ schools). Provide leadership in maintaining a collaborative relationship with the entire MH department, including MH supports in special education. Provide assistance to the Mental Health Director, and on-site assistance to building administrators, district departments, and staff in effectively implementing the variety of MH programs, including Crisis Intervention and Support, Tier II, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and Restorative Justice. Assist the MH Director in providing expertise, vision, and leadership to MH partners, contract providers, and staff. Recruit, hire, evaluate, retain, and supervise MH staff. Supervise and monitor effective instructional practices and develop professional development trainings and opportunities for MH department staff members. Implement all local, state, and federal statutes, rules, policies, and administrative directions pertaining to mental health practice in schools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.
- With the Director of Mental Health, plan, implement, and monitor all district services relating to the Mental Health program. [Daily, 15%]
- Recruit, hire, evaluate, retain, and supervise Mental Health staff, including school social workers, school psychologists, interns, contract therapeutic staff , and in the absence of the Mental Health Director, supervise the Mental Health program. Make staffing decisions, job assignments, and hire staff in accordance with district policies and funder requirements for governance. Provide support to and mentor MH staff as needed. [Daily, 15%]
- Provide assistance to the Director of Mental Health in overseeing the Mental Health Relief Fund and Mental Health Resource Program, including developing additional partnerships, managing referrals, and coordinating services with school-based mental health and counseling staff. [Daily, 10%]
- Supervise and monitor effective instructional practices and develop professional development trainings and opportunities for MH staff members, aligning the MH program with the District's five Core Values, strategic plan, goals, and initiatives. [Daily, 10%]
- Provide assistance to the Director of Mental Health, and on-site assistance to building administrators, district departments, and staff in effectively implementing the Mental Health program. [Daily, 10%]
- Oversee the evaluation, programing, and service delivery model for Tier I and Tier II supports including being an active member of the district's MTSS work and Restorative Justice initiatives. [Daily, 10%]
- Assess quality of mental health services delivery by monitoring, being visible, conducting regular observations and walk-throughs, communicating, and creating expectations for staff serving students and schools. Supervise and monitor operating and administrative procedures to ensure effective program operation, compliance, and progress on Mental Health department goals. [Daily, 5%]
- Using language and culture skills as appropriate, facilitate oral and written communication between staff, students and/or families for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, and resolving conflicts. [Daily, 5%]
- Develop, organize, and facilitate the implementation of summer mental health programming for students. [Weekly, 5%]
- Administer, along with Director and with MH Partner support, grants that support the efforts of MH staff and programming throughout the district. [Daily, 5%]
- Support the Director of MH in collaborating with district departments, schools, staff, and local agencies regarding the Mental Health program. Attend Mental Health Advisory Committee and support efforts of this group's programming and activities. [Monthly, 5%]
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in school psychology or social work
- Five (5) years of private, public, educational, or clinical mental health experience
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of office equipment
- Advanced knowledge of current research in mental health practice for children through age 21
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
- Ability to actively incorporate CCSD's five core values into daily work (Growth Mindset, Equity, Whole Well-being, Relationships and Engagement)
- Ability to use tact and sensitivity in working with others at various levels within an organization

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.
- Colorado Department of Education (CDE) School Psychologist license, CDE School Social Worker license, or Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license
- Colorado driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience supervising and evaluating mental health professionals in a school setting
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
- Knowledge of and formal training in trauma-informed care and evidence-based prevention and intervention in a school setting with both general population and special education students
