Lycoming College is hiring an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach
Lycoming College, one of the nation’s oldest residential liberal arts and sciences colleges, invites candidates for its part-time Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach position. This position is responsible for all aspects of Lycoming College’s NCAA Division III men’s basketball program and will be expected to abide by and uphold the regulations of the NCAA Division III and the Landmark Conference.
This is a part-time position that works from July through February for a total of $6,887.50 annually for a total of approximately 950 hours.

What will I do in this role?
  • Model integrity, respect, and good sportsmanship at all times and hold student-athletes accountable for the same behavior.
  • Communicate regularly with the Head Coach and contribute positively to the betterment of the total athletics program and Lycoming community as a representative of the men’s basketball program. Promote the Men’s Basketball program, the overall athletic program and Lycoming College in a professional manner with alumni, parents, community members, and fellow Lycoming College personnel.
  • Know and abide by NCAA DIII regulations and Landmark Conference rules. Successfully complete the annual NCAA “open book” rules test.
  • Comply with the policies and procedures outlined in the Lycoming College Athletic Training handbook. Cooperate with athletic trainers and the Head Coach to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services.
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Athletics Communications to promote the Men’s Basketball program..
  • Assist the Head Coach in organizing and executing community service events and initiatives.
  • Assist the Head Coach in organizing and conducting practices and competitive events. Be prepared and organized to instruct student-athletes with sound principles and skills related to basketball. Prepare student-athletes for games through technology presentations and on-court instruction.
  • Assist the Head Coach in all parts of the game day experience. Including, but not limited to meals, travel coordination and film exchange.
  • Maintain an understanding of how to use the technological resources available to student-athletes that are used to support practice and game preparation.
Recruiting & Retention
  • In compliance with NCAA DIII rules and regulations for men’s basketball, recruit student-athletes who meet Lycoming College’s admissions requirements. Recruited student-athletes should possess the potential to contribute positively to the program and the entire student body.
  • Discuss regularly with the Head Coach recruitment plans to successfully target student-athletes that meet specific program needs established by the coaching staff and college who have the potential to excel academically and athletically.
  • Assist the Head Coach in creating, organizing, and maintaining recruiting information of prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist in organizing and executing on-campus visits for prospective student athletes.
  • Assist the Head Coach in monitoring the academic success of student-athletes through individual academic meetings to support the academic development of student-athletes through graduation.

What are we looking for?
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Collegiate playing and coaching experience preferred.
  • Must obtain a driver’s license with an approved driving record that passes our insurance criteria

Knowledge and Skill Set
  • Must have well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Successful completion of ACT 153 Clearances and Motor Vehicle Record check with an active driver’s license.
  • Successful candidates will be self-motivated and possess the ability to recruit, teach and coach highly talented student athletes who can succeed in a challenging academic environment.
  • Experience with using video breakdown, analysis, and analytics to improve team performance.
