Job description

Description Title: Men's Basketball Team Manager Hiring Unit: UHM Athletics Location: Men's Basketball Date Posted: June 27, 2026 Closing Date: Continuous recruitment until programmatic needs are met. For best consideration, review of applications will begin July 7, 2026 Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Head Men's Basketball Coach or designee, the Student Team Manager will assist with all managerial aspects of the program including clerical work such as inputting of data and filing paperwork, preparation of practice/game facilities and equipment, preparation of practice/game uniforms and personnel equipment, clock management, stat keeping, filming during practices, and assistance with team functions. Demonstrate effective organizational skills and time management. Must demonstrate a positive and professional working attitude and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the coaching staff, team members, support staff, administrators in the UH Athletics Department and other individuals associated with the UH Men's Basketball program.

Responsible for the set up and clean up of practice / game facilities and equipment for the UH Men's Basketball team. Set up facilities and equipment for visiting teams' practices and shoot-arounds. Responsible for the distribution, collection, maintenance, and laundry of all practice / game uniforms and player equipment.

Ensure reasonable cleanliness of Stan Sheriff Center locker room, coaches' lounge, and program conference room. Participate in limited on court activities during practice involving student-athletes (e.g. rebounding and assisting with drills)

A manager shall not provide instruction to student-athletes and shall not participate in countable athletically related activities (e.g., practice player) except as permitted by Bylaw 11.01.7-(b). Manage scoreboard, game clock, and shot clock during practice. Record statistics as assigned by the coaching staff during practice

Complete clerical office work and record keeping e.g. inputting of data and filing paperwork. Help assistant coaches with clerical aspect of scouting reports

Assist the Director of Basketball Operations with administrative duties including recruiting mailouts, camp mailouts, and camp operations. Film practices, individual workouts, and games as required. Assist the performance analyst with film exchange, and coding of practices and games.

Manage team bench during games (provide water / towels to players, and perform any assigned statistical duties). Attend all team practices and home games. Be available prior, during, and after practices and competitions as assigned.

Travel to away games as assigned. Attend all basketball related events including but not limited to promotional activities such as pep rallies, cafeteria and dorm promotions, and other UHM athletic events where the team is required to attend. Comply with UH Men's Basketball Team guidelines.

Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawaii policies. Know, recognize, and comply with laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated Conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others have occurred or will occur.

Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Be accepted and enrolled as a full-time student as an undergraduate (12 credits at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa (UHM) or graduate student (8 credits at UHM) in a degree program. Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of basketball as played at the intercollegiate level.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and Mac operating systems Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems Ability to be punctual and manage time wisely. Benefits: Maximum amount a team manager may receive will be equal to an undergraduate resident tuition or 100% of the individual's tuition cost (whichever is less). Tuition does not include payment for Outreach College extension courses.

Team Manager will be responsible for payment to Outreach College. Tuition payment will be prorated if the start date and completion of all required paperwork is after the first day of school. Monthly stipend for room and board, approximate amount is $1,111 (rate may be prorated based on start date) from September 2026 to May 2027 (9 months).
