Description
Reporting to the Head Men's Basketball Coach, the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach (Video) is primarily responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the Men's Basketball program to support the development, performance, and success of student-athletes and the team. Coaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, on-court instruction, skill development, practice planning and execution, game preparation, recruiting, player evaluation, and other duties that contribute to the overall success of the program.
As a key component of these coaching responsibilities, the Assistant Coach is responsible for the planning, editing, production, and management of all basketball-related video operations, including the analysis and compilation of practice footage, game film, opponent scouting videos, and recruiting materials. These efforts support student-athlete development, game strategy, opponent preparation, and the recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
The Assistant Coach must be willing and able to organize and manage administrative responsibilities associated with the position and must adhere to all rules, regulations, and policies of Hofstra University, the Coastal Athletic Association, and the NCAA.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assists with player development as it relates to proper technique, advanced skill instruction, and competition strategy along with team building.
  • Assists with evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, including daily recruitment, communication with and cultivation of recruits.
  • Communicates with AAU Programs and high schools on a daily basis, including coordination and documentation of official/unofficial visits.
  • Coordinates recruiting activities using the Fast Recruit recruiting software program and DV Sport/Synergy platforms.
  • Evaluates the performance, conduct, and abilities of individuals and groups as assigned by the head coach.
  • Assists, develops, and participates in program planning, contest preparation, scouting, film breakdown, practice sessions, game day activities, coordinates game and practice schedules.
  • Monitors and assists in areas as assigned including completing all compliance forms (ex. CARA LOGS), travel itineraries, strength and conditioning, camps and clinics, recruitment, admissions, academic pre-reads, NLIs, academic enhancement, equipment, financial planning and budgeting, purchasing, and fundraising.
  • Participates in public relations activities, community outreach programs, marketing and development initiatives as well as alumni engagement.
  • Oversees all social media accounts for Men's Basketball.
  • Assists with the coordination of Underclassman Day, camps, and clinics.
  • Plans, edits, produces, and compiles all video packaging utilized by the men's basketball coaching staff for scouting, recruiting, and game preparation purposes.
  • Represents the men's basketball program, Hofstra University, and The Coastal Athletic Association.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of one year of prior relevant work experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred.

Salary/Salary Range
$40,000 - $43,200

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
