Opening available for 7am-3pm shift and 3pm-11pm shift
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and skilled Dementia Care Specialist to join our tight-knit team. In our 10-bed assisted living home, we don't just "manage" symptoms-we celebrate retained abilities and support our residents through their journey using Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care (PAC). Unlike large facilities where you might feel like a number, here you will have the time to truly connect with residents, understand their "Gems" level, and provide the personalized support they deserve.
Responsibilities Support with Dignity:
Assist residents with daily living activities using PAC techniques like Hand-under-Hand™ and Positive Physical Approach™. Meaningful Engagement: Lead individualized activities that focus on what residents can do, fostering a sense of purpose and joy. Environmental Cues: Maintain a calm, supportive environment that reduces distress and promotes independence. Collaboration: Work closely with a small team and families to adapt care plans as residents transition through different stages of dementia.
Qualifications The Right Heart:
You understand that "behavior" is a form of communication and meet distress with curiosity and empathy, not frustration. PAC Knowledge: Prior experience with Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care is a major plus, but a willingness to learn is mandatory. We provide ongoing PAC training! Experience: Previous experience in memory care or assisted living preferred.
