Job description

Medication Aide

Nye Health Services is seeking a compassionate and dependable Medication Aide to join our Memory Care team. In this role, you will support residents with daily medication administration and personal care while creating a safe, engaging, and comforting environment for individuals living with memory-related conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease. This position plays a key role in helping residents maintain dignity, independence, and quality of life through purposeful and person-centered care.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and state regulations
  • Observe residents for changes in condition, behaviors, or medication side effects and promptly report concerns to nursing leadership
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support as needed
  • Provide compassionate support and redirection to residents experiencing memory loss, confusion, or behavioral challenges
  • Promote a calm, positive, and engaging environment within the Memory Care neighborhood
  • Accurately document medication administration, resident care, and observations in the electronic medical record
  • Encourage resident participation in activities and social engagement opportunities
  • Follow infection prevention, safety, and emergency procedures at all times
  • Collaborate closely with nurses, caregivers, life enrichment staff, and families to support individualized resident care plans
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards

Qualifications

  • Current 40-hour Medication Aide certification required in the state of Nebraska
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required, or the ability and willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Experience working with seniors or individuals with dementia preferred
  • Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Basic computer and documentation skills required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist residents throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and/or transfer up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
