Job description

Position Summary:
The Application Engineer serves as the primary technical resource supporting both field and internal sales teams throughout the technology evaluation and sales process. This role acts as a trusted technical advisor and product advocate, delivering tailored solutions that meet customer requirements and drive successful project outcomes. The Application Engineer will focus primarily on gas turbine inlet systems, working closely with customers and internal teams to ensure complete satisfaction and continuous business growth.


Essential Functions:

  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of products and their applications, especially gas turbine inlet systems.
  • Understand and interpret customer requirements, providing clear communication and reliable solutions.
  • Manage technical deliverables for engineered-to-order projects, including:
    • Reviewing customer technical specifications and preparing system descriptions or mark-ups.
    • Working internally and externally to cost projects during the bid process.
    • Acting as the technical liaison for customers regarding warranty and field issues.
    • Ensuring all engineering requirements are accurately prepared and communicated to customers.
  • Provide technical support during customer visits, including presentations and demonstrations.
  • Lead product design efforts to meet customer-specific requirements; review and verify fabrication drawings and documentation.
  • Define mechanical design concepts and collaborate with the design department to develop detailed models and drawings.
  • Utilize appropriate design and sizing tools to generate fabrication drawings and ensure manufacturability.
  • Travel to customer sites for scope definition, measurements, and project alignment. (up to 25% travel)
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to align technical deliverables with project schedules and customer expectations.
  • Support sales teams with application, sizing, and selection information to identify new opportunities and develop strategies to win projects.
  • Troubleshoot production and warranty issues, providing timely resolution and engineering support.
  • Deliver technical training and assist sales personnel in product application and design best practices.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in inlet applications such as static and pulse filtration, evaporative cooling, and inlet heating/cooling.
  • Strong knowledge of acoustics, filtration, aerodynamics, and exhaust after-treatment principles.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (preferably) or 2D CAD systems.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and train others.
  • Experience with instrumentation for testing and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with ASME Pressure Vessel design standards.

  • Ability to move around the office and manufacturing floor as needed.
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods (up to 50% of the workday).
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, including both office environments and active project sites.
  • Ability to travel internationally, primarily Mexico.
  • Comfort with physical requirements of the role, which may include climbing ladders, working at heights, and entering and working in confined spaces
