ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT DIVISION
The Development Division is responsible for developing and engaging members and donors, and actively seeks to attract new audiences to build support for the future. Raising revenue through membership, broad-based annual fund donations, major gifts, special events, and venue rentals, the division plans and executes a full calendar of engagement initiatives throughout the year, including seasonal exhibition openings, member programs, ticketed fundraisers, private event rentals, and other cultivation opportunities to strengthen support and expand the museum's community of funders.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Member and Donor Engagement Manager oversees Frye's membership program and annual giving campaigns to meet revenue goals, engage and deepen relationships with existing and new supporters, and develop creative benefits, events, and experiences that reflect the museum's mission and vision. This role manages an annual cycle of member and donor campaigns from concept to execution, collaborating across Development and the museum to develop effective communications and multi-channel content and deliver exciting member events and opportunities. This position reports to the Associate Director of Development and is supported by the Development Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Membership
  • Grow the membership program and pipeline to meet the Frye's financial and organizational goals and serve as an enthusiastic representative of membership internally and externally
  • Design or refine membership program and fulfill benefits that reflect the mission, vision, and priorities of the museum and deepen member engagement and connection to the museum
  • Develop and implement engagement goals, opportunities, and events for members, member affiliate groups (Frye Nouveau), and premier member groups (Art Circle, Curators Circle)
  • Manage effective systems for membership appeals, mailings and digital communications, including acquisitions, renewals, upgrades, event invitations, and stewardship communications, working with the Development Coordinator to implement systems seamlessly
  • With Database Associate, provide monthly and quarterly reporting of membership data to assess effectiveness and inform strategies
  • Develop and track membership revenue and expense budget and provide projections

Annual Fund
  • Meet revenue goals and grow broad-based giving program and pipeline to meet the Frye's financial and organizational goals, including ensuring program growth through acquisition of new donors
  • Design strategy and plan, and implement multiple fundraising campaigns that reflect the mission, vision and priorities of the museum and deepen supporter engagement
  • Implement or participate in stewardship activities (events, recognition, communications) that reflect donor impact, recognize supporters and encourage continuing investment
  • With Database Associate, provide monthly and quarterly assessments of campaigns and fundraising effectiveness to inform strategies

Communications and Events
  • Manage or contribute to the strategy, design, and execution of member and development events (exhibition receptions, member and donor cultivation and stewardship events, planned giving, prospecting and fundraising events)
  • Contribute to the department calendar of events, assessing event impact
  • Manage the department content calendar for campaigns, stewardship, and monthly e-newsletters
  • Craft effective communications for a variety of purposes, platforms, and audiences, adhering to Frye style guide
  • Work with Communications and other departments as a collaborative partner to develop digital and video content for membership and annual fund campaigns and to implement campaigns and assets
  • Work closely with the department, Database Associate and Individual Giving Officer to build the major donor pipeline, identify campaign matches, and identify prospective major donors through research and engagement
  • Manage relevant expense reports, invoices, and administrative tasks
  • Monitor and respond to donor and member inquiries
  • Assist with and participate in Development and museum events
  • Participate in staff events and trainings

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Proficiency with digital platforms (Zoom, Teams, Microsoft Office Suite) and project management programs.
  • Experience and fluency with constituent databases (CRMs)
  • Fluency in English

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of three years of direct experience and successful track record in fundraising, membership, or annual giving.
  • A passion for the arts, contemporary art, or museums desirable

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is eligible for a hybrid in-person/remote work arrangement, with regular in-office work times as arranged with their manager. Work areas are inside, in a climate-controlled environment. Shift times may vary to meet the Museum's requirement to staff the facilities at all hours. Work may require long periods of sustained standing during Museum events.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • SITTING/STANDING/WALKING: Approximately 70% of time is spent seated while working at a desk. Balance of time (approximately 30%) is spent standing or moving around the work area. Ability to stand for extended periods of time when assisting at Museum events.
  • SPEAKING/HEARING: Clear diction and acute hearing are necessary for effective communication with the public and co-workers.
  • LIFTING/CARRYING/PUSHING/PULLING: The ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds is necessary for moving material and equipment for events.
  • VISION: Corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary to effectively use the computer screens.
  • STOOPING/KNEELING: The ability to stoop and kneel is necessary for accessing files.
  • REACHING/HANDLING: Good manual dexterity is necessary for computer keyboard use and for retrieving and working with appropriate paperwork, equipment, and supplies.
