Product Development Manager II
Job Summary:
The Product Manager is responsible for the development and overall success of the product strategies for the assigned product line. The Product manager will manage the process to identify, assess and implement products and services, including the development and oversight of the product roadmap and the lifecycle management of the product. This role acts as the product subject matter expert and works collaboratively with internal business areas and external customers to gather feedback, develop strategies, create requirements and participate in implementation. This role engages cross functionally within the health plan to promote strategies and tactics to drive innovation, growth and efficiency through product development. Additionally, this role monitors product performance and recommends product strategies, which could include new products or services, benefit enhancements or sunsetting underperforming products or product features. This role contributes to the overall success of the products including membership growth, margin, customer experience and other key operational metrics.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops a clear product vision, strategy and roadmap that aligns with business goals and addresses customer needs. This involves setting product priorities, defining features and outlining timelines.
  • Conducts market research and gathers insights to identify customer needs, preferences and trends that can inform the product decisions.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional business partners to obtain relevant market intelligence, stakeholder feedback, product and portfolio performance and regulatory requirements to develop a comprehensive product roadmap.
  • Works with competitive intelligence team to monitor local and national competitor products, positioning, strategies and industry trends.
  • Manages the product lifecycle by monitoring product performance to measure the success of a product, making modifications to improve performance or recommend consolidation/replacement/closure of underperforming products.
  • Leads the development of a business proposal for product portfolio enhancements which identifies the business opportunity, estimated cost and operational impact of the proposed product changes.
  • Works closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop go-to-market strategies, pricing and positioning for the product. This includes product messaging and supporting the product launch.
  • Develops and delivers sales and broker training on new products or enhancements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Health Care Administration or equivalent of training and/or experience
  • 2 years' experience as a product manager or working closely with product management/development
  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to work in matrixed environment
  • Strong working knowledge of health insurance products
  • Strong skills in MS Office products including MS teams, Excel and Powerpoint
