Join the Ocean Community YMCA as Membership Director and lead a team that creates welcoming experiences and strengthens community!
Job Description
The Membership Director leads membership growth, retention, engagement, and Welcome Center operations at the Naik Family Branch located in Mystic, CT. This position provides leadership to the Membership team and helps ensure an exceptional experience for members, guests, and prospective members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in membership, sales, marketing, or a related area preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in sales and revenue growth.
  • Previous staff-supervision and leadership experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer-service, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with standard business software.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with members, staff, community partners, and local leaders.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase membership, retention, engagement, and revenue.
  • Monitor membership trends, goals, member feedback, and performance measures.
  • Oversee daily Welcome Center and Child Watch operations and maintain high member-service standards.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and develop Membership and Child Watch staff.
  • Ensure membership transactions, program registrations, financial assistance, and account changes are processed accurately.
  • Manage the Membership budget and prepare monthly reports and performance analyses.
  • Coordinate membership marketing, communications, events, and community outreach.
  • Build relationships with members, community partners, and local leaders.
  • Support the YMCA's Annual Campaign, fundraising activities, and special events.
