Position Summary
The Membership Coordinator serves as a key ambassador for the Chamber, providing exceptional member service while supporting the Chamber's mission to strengthen businesses and foster a thriving community. This role primarily oversees membership administration, communications, and social media while assisting with office support, and event coordination. This position works closely with the Executive Director to deliver an outstanding member experience and successful Chamber programs.
Primary Responsibilities
Membership Services
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Chamber members, prospective members, and visitors.
- Process new memberships, renewals, invoices, payments and manage membership retention.
- Maintain accurate member records within the Chamber database, prepare membership reports and assist with tracking growth and retention.
- Respond promptly to member inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
- Coordinate member benefits, including ribbon cuttings, grand openings, and assist with membership recruitment efforts and follow-up with prospective members.
Marketing & Social Media
- Manage the Chamber's social media platforms by creating engaging content that highlights members, Chamber events, community initiatives, and local businesses.
- Assist with email marketing campaigns and member newsletters content and develop a content calendar timeline.
- Capture photos and videos at Chamber events.
- Design basic promotional graphics using Canva or similar software.
- Update Chamber website / NC Oyster Festival content if needed.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond appropriately to comments and messages.
Member & Community Engagement
- Build positive relationships with Chamber members, community partners, and local businesses.
- Represent the Chamber professionally at community functions and events.
- Encourage member participation in Chamber programs, committees, and networking opportunities.
- Help create a welcoming and engaging experience for all members and guests.
Secondary Responsibilities
Administrative & Event Coordination Responsibilities
- Assist with daily administrative support for Chamber operations including answering phones, greeting visitors, and maintaining a welcoming office environment.
- Assist with scheduling, office calendar, correspondence, mail, and filing systems.
- Assist with materials for various meetings and events.
- Assist in planning and executing Chamber networking events, educational programs, ribbon cuttings, business celebrations, and annual signature events.
- Assist with coordination of event registrations and attendee communications.
- Assist with coordination of vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and event venues.
- Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown.
- Assist the Executive Director with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma with two or more years of experience in customer service, office administration, nonprofit organizations, membership organizations, event planning, marketing, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Friendly, professional, and service-oriented personality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Canva, Constant Contact, JotForm, and social media platforms.
- Strong understanding of current social media trends, algorithms, and platform best practices.
- Experience with membership database or CRM software.
- Basic photography and content creation skills.
- Experience coordinating meetings or events.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds for event setup.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during events.
- Occasional evening and weekend work required for Chamber events and programs.
- Reliable transportation for local travel within Brunswick County.

Reports To: Executive Director
Position Type: Full-Time (35 hr/wk)
Schedule: Monday through Friday – 8:00am – 4:00pm.
The Chamber follows all Federal Holiday closings + additional days for certain holidays
Compensation & Benefits
This is a 35-hour-per-week (full time), position with a starting wage based on qualifications and experience, equivalent to approximately $35,000–$40,000 annually. This position will also include a healthcare stipend, a cell phone stipend, mileage reimbursement for work-related travel associated with Chamber events, meetings, and local business errands, paid time off, and eligibility for a yearly performance-based bonus.
