Job description

Responsible for planning, organization and evaluation of occupational health and safety program for a single mega project or oversight of all projects in a Division.


  • Oversees safety program and procedures for a single mega project or oversight of all projects in a Division.
  • Develops division wide or mega project specific safety procedures and practices. Implements safety trainings and initiatives that are aligned to Company core Health and Safety program.
  • Reviews project trend analysis to ensure accurate tracking of accidents, injuries, fire, property damage and other safety related incidents are recorded.
  • Oversees the creation and implementation of all safety orientations, trainings and oversees project site toolbox talks for all project staff within designated timeframe.
  • Directs project site training, equipment needs and inspection requirements to support construction schedule and promote project cost savings.
  • Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
  • Supports project safety equipment procurement and maintenance needs, as needed by direct reports. Provides technical expertise to high risk or complex safety issues, as needed.
  • Reviews project status and trend analysis reports to present during District Operations meetings.
  • Oversees injury reporting and resolution for entire project site. Reviews investigation documentation and corrective action plans to ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented on the job site.
  • Reviews and approves Daily Hazard Analysis (DHA) from direct reports and personal daily documentation to ensure accurate and timely tracking of safety procedures. Participates in Jobsite Hazard Analysis (JHA) discussions and documentation for the entire project plan.
  • Maintains knowledge of Flatiron’s company values and strategic plan.
  • Support published corporate policies.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or a related field preferred
  • 20+ years’ experience in construction or safety required.
  • 10+ years’ experience managing construction or safety teams required.
  • Experience in diverse, complex and high risk construction projects required.
  • Experience developing and implementing health and safety initiatives preferred.
  • Required company Safety certifications
  • Proven leadership skills with consistent and clear expectations messaged to direct reports and project stakeholders.
  • Proven skill and ability to communicate safety program to senior Company leadership. Comfortable and effective speaking and presenting to project Owners, regulatory agencies and internal senior leadership.
  • Strong, proven skills identifying and mentoring direct report safety professionals. Assigning tasks and training to build a strong and well balanced internal team.
  • Developed ability to provide training and learning opportunities for construction teams based on expert safety knowledge and standard safety principles.
  • Expert and proven skill to identify onsite project safety risks and develop innovative and compliant mitigation strategies within safety program and agency requirement standards.
  • Expert knowledge of construction site equipment, methods and processes.
  • Expert knowledge of regulatory compliance, industry trends and upcoming agency regulations that might impact Company and project production.
