Field Laborer / Technician - Environmental Services

Location: Covington, GA 

Job Type: Full-Time


On-Call / Travel / Emergency Response Role:

Miller Environmental Group (MEG) is seeking Field Laborers / Technicians to join our field operations team. This position performs hands-on environmental cleanup, industrial cleaning, decontamination, spill response, and basic remediation tasks under direct supervision.


This role supports both emergency response and scheduled project work. The work is physical and demanding, often performed in challenging environments, and requires a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and accountability.

Compensation:

  • Starting pay: $20/hour+, depending on experience
  • Overtime pay after 8 hours in a day
  • 1.5x pay for Saturday work

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform environmental cleanup, industrial cleaning, and decontamination work under supervision
  • Assist with spill response, emergency deployments, and basic remediation tasks
  • Handle, package, and transport contaminated materials in compliance with regulations
  • Wear, maintain, and properly use required PPE, including respirators and fully encapsulated Level A suits
  • Perform strenuous physical labor including digging, lifting, shoveling, debris removal, and hose handling
  • Assist with containment setup and site preparation
  • Support vacuum truck operations (hose handling, spotting, equipment setup), without driving CDL vehicles
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment (non-CDL)
  • Clean tools, equipment, and work areas using appropriate cleaning methods
  • Maintain basic site records such as container or material counts
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and required training
  • Report safety hazards, equipment issues, or unusual site conditions
  • Work extended shifts (8-12+ hours), including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs
  • Participate in on-call emergency response
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license (non-CDL)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs and perform heavy physical labor
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, and varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and on uneven terrain
  • Willingness to work extended hours, overtime, travel, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations
  • Ability to wear respirators and meet OSHA respiratory protection and facial hair requirements
  • Strong reliability, teamwork, and willingness to learn
  • Must pass a fit-for-duty physical, drug/alcohol screening, and background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in environmental services, construction, industrial cleaning, mechanical, landscaping or general labor
  • Spill response, remediation, or hazardous materials experience
  • Mechanical aptitude or equipment support experience

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Field-based work primarily outdoors for 8-12+ hours per day
  • Exposure to noise, chemicals, uneven terrain, confined spaces, and elevated work areas
  • Required use of PPE including coveralls, gloves, eye protection, respirators, air monitors, and fully encapsulated suits
  • Ability to wear fully encapsulated Level A PPE with SCBA for extended periods when required
