About the Job
General Summary of Position
Responsible for the development management and operational oversight of the MedStar Orthopedic Office Radiology services throughout MedStar Health. Responsible for all daily operations including staffing regulatory requirements and quality services to aid the orthopedic physicians and their patients in their diagnostic imaging needs. Supports all initiatives for the MSH Orthopedic Service Line that impact Imaging operations in the offices.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops department goals objectives policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with business unit policies and procedures and governmental accreditation regulations and safety standards. Maintains operating manuals for Orthopedic Radiology sites and is the resource person for any radiology related technical support required at the site level.
  • Oversees and manages all Imaging aspects of the daily technical and patient care activities for the Orthopadic offices offering Radiology services.
  • Requires travel on a routine basis to all the MedStar Orthopedic Offices under the purview of this role. Responsible for planning development regulatory and operations aspects of all new facilities. Works closely with the local facility leadership in support of local operations.
  • Develops and recommends department operating budget and manages resources according to approved budget.
  • Anticipates the human resources needs of the facilities. Participates in all aspects of Associate relations. Responsible for hiring and on-boarding of new Radiology Techs in partnership with the site operations/clinical managers. Assists with patient care to fill any staffing gaps so operational workflows are not impacted.
  • Selects trains orients and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance evaluates performance and conducts performance management planning. Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs provide feedback discuss new developments and exchange information. Shares educational opportunities to all Ortho Practice radiology technologists.
  • Administers and maintains all facility services in accordance with standards and criteria established by CMS Joint Commission State Local and Federal agencies to ensure compliance to those external standards. Is the liaison for all equipment testing with contracted health physicist company. Addresses violations or compliance issues with equipment standards by creating action plans and performance improvement initiatives to correct any issues.
  • Ensures that all Associates adhere to established radiation safety policies and best practices.
  • Develops effective working relationship with Biomedical support services and outside vendors. Responsible for the oversite and coordination of equipment repairs in a cost effective and efficient manner. Manages all radiology related contracts and vendor relationships. Works with Director of Operations and MedStar Radiology Leadership to update contracts and service agreements as required.
  • Maintains an equipment inventory list for all radiation machines and helps develop capital replacement plans. Maintain relationships with outside vendors for hardware and software needs.
  • Monitors compliance with the standards for the technical and IT workflows. Acts as the liaison for Radiology IT workflows and helps troubleshoot any concerns i.e. PACS Cerner Rad Net etc.
  • Ensures adequate inventory of supplies is maintained for efficient delivery of care.
  • Partners with the practice managers and communicates on a regular basis especially if there are operational workflow issues and challenges that may impact patient care and office needs.
  • Establishes appropriate process improvements quality standards and metrics for the facilities. Set goals and objectives for staff as related to identified process improvements that align with the Orthopedic Service Line and MedStar Health Annual Operating Plan.
  • Works in collaboration with other MedStar Radiology service leadership (i.e. MedStar Hospitals and MedStar Joint Ventures) to ensure a consistent level of quality of patient care across the MedStar system. Participates in the development and implementation of system wide MedStar Radiology objectives.
  • Develops and prepares required management reports on a routine and ad hoc basis as directed by Practice Managers and Orthopedic Service Line leadership.
  • Plans Radiology Technologist week and any vendor in-service needs for the associates to improve engagement and development.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and business unit in community outreach efforts. Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams and maintains effective working relationships with other departments.

Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of radiation science in a related field required and
  • Associate's degree In Business Administration or related field preferred

Experience
  • 5-7 years 7 years of progressive experience as a radiologic technologist preferred

Licenses and Certifications
  • ARRT Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) required

This position has a hiring range of
USD $102,606.00 - USD $196,996.00 /Yr.
