About the Job
Interventional Radiology positions in Washington DC
The MedStar Medical Group- Radiology is seeking an interventional radiologist to join the MedStar Georgetown Interventional Radiology practice. The selected candidate will join our growing academic practice in Washington DC, based at our academic centers at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. These two centers jointly manage our integrated and independent IR residency programs and offer the full range of basic and advanced interventional services. The MedStar Georgetown Interventional Radiology practice has 23 Interventional Radiologists and 13 advanced practice providers (APPs) and covers 9 acute care hospitals in Washington DC and Maryland. These positions will include rotating at 2 other area hospitals in Maryland in addition to the 2 large DC hospitals. This position is dedicated to our practice at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
MedStar Washington Hospital Center is the largest hospital in the District of Columbia and a leader in cardiovascular care and cancer therapy and is the largest trauma center in the region. There are 5 interventional radiology suites, including 2 bi-plane rooms for neurointerventions, a dedicated interventional CT suite, an ultrasound procedure room and a dedicated IR clinic.
The practice has strong clinical and research activity in interventional oncology, musculoskeletal interventions, fibroid and prostate artery embolization, advanced biliary and endoscopy interventions and venous and peripheral arterial interventions. The MedStar Health System has a research institute that can provide support for research contracting, study design and biostatistics and the Department of Radiology has dedicated personnel to support the section's research.
The successful candidates will receive faculty appointments at Georgetown School of Medicine with rank commensurate with experience. Requirements for the positions include IR/DR board certification by the ABR, and a District of Columbia and Maryland State medical licenses.

Qualifications
  • Board-certified or Board-eligible by American Board of Radiology
  • Open to experienced radiologists and new graduates (fellowship training preferred)
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia
  • Strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and excellent communication skills
