Job description

Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, Telemetry Technicians are responsible for providing advanced EKG monitoring to interpret cardiac rhythms, interval measurements, etc. to provide the best treatment plan to patients. Shift available: 7am-7pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the cardiac monitoring of patients by operating the central monitoring station and monitoring software systems.
  • Prepares, maintains, and interprets telemetry waveform data.
  • Documents EKG waveforms in patient medical records by recording measurements of heart rates, PR intervals, QRs on rhythm strips, etc.
  • Performs electrocardiograms, ensuring proper electrode placement.
  • Observes and interprets cardiac rhythms and documents them in patient medical records.
  • Responds to monitor alarms, reports changes in rate/rhythm to the proper nurse or physician, and documents changes.
  • Answers phones and patient call lights. Routes calls and messages to the appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinates the availability of equipment to ensure quality and timely patient care.
  • Maintains, cleans, and operates telemetry and electrocardiogram equipment. Ensures monitor alarms are on when a patient is on a unit.
  • Notifies the appropriate nurse of STAT orders.
  • Transcribes STAT orders within 15 minutes.
  • Assists the admissions department with rapid registration of multiple urgent/emergent patients.
  • Maintains charts and processes department admissions to Med Surg.
  • Follows administrative guidelines for the maintenance of charts.
  • Enters orders in Meditech and notifies nurses of new orders, when appropriate
  • Places discharge charts in the appropriate order and puts them in a basket for medical records by the end of each shift. Charges must be entered into the Meditech Expanse system.
  • Prepares the appropriate documents for patient transfer.
  • Requests and retrieves medical records.
  • Organizes, cleans, and maintains work areas, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assists with ordering supplies.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as requested.

Job Qualifications:
Education/Qualification Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Successful completion of Telemetry training program or Associate's degree in related field.

Experience:
  • Previous Telemetry experience is preferred but not required.

Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
