Job Description
2027 Business Technology Solutions (BTS) Internship
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for Business Technology Solutions (BTS) Interns at AbbVie.
The Cloud Engineering Intern will help keep AbbVie's business platforms running and evolving - supporting, designing, and delivering technical solutions end to end. Specific responsibilities could include:
  • Troubleshoot issues and resolve incidents to keep platforms running smoothly
  • Partner with business and IT teams to deliver enhancements and integrations
  • Support the improvement of platform performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Help track milestones, coordinate teams, and support on-time delivery
  • Maintain documentation, support testing and deployment, and follow IT governance requirements
  • Assess risk and support cybersecurity and data protection with business, vendor, and technical teams

This is an 11-week onsite internship. The majority of BTS Interns will be placed in Lake County, IL, though there is a possibility of being placed within any U.S. AbbVie or Allergan Aesthetics location. While location preferences are considered, placements will ultimately be based on business need.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, AI or related majors with a minor or concentration in one of the above fields
  • Graduation date between December 2027 - June 2028
  • Must be enrolled in university the semester following your internship and graduate within 1-year post internship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, CI/CD)
  • Working knowledge of architecture and how structure and solutions fit together
  • Experience with low-code platforms (Pega, OutSystems) and troubleshooting/configuring platforms such as ServiceNow, UKG Pro WFM, or Workday Time Tracking/Absence
  • Experience with XML, XSLT, WebServices, and Dell Boomi
  • Previous internship or related experience
  • Technical and business insight, strong analytical skills, and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
