Medical Supply Tech  

(Sterile Processing Technician)
Location: IHS Facility in Shiprock, NM 87420 
Shift:  

  • 8 or 10-hour shifts based on facility needs.  

  • May include weekends and holidays 

  • Must be willing to float to other departments as needed to support patient care 

Contract Length: 6 Months (Option to Extend) 
Estimated Start Date: Pending Award and Completion of Credentialing Process 

Compensation: 

  • Hourly rate: $23.00 

  • Travel weekly stipends (If applicable): $1,246 

  • Please keep in mind that payroll is processed on a biweekly basis. 

Benefits:  

  • Health and Welfare: $5.09/hr (Up to 40 hours worked per week) 

  • PTO: 5 days after 6 months, an additional 5 days at 1 year of service 

  • Accrued sick days: 1 hour for every 36 hours worked 

  • 11 Paid Holidays: Following the Government calendar throughout the year 

Job Description: 

We are seeking an experienced Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing Technician) to support inpatient and outpatient clinical services by ensuring the proper decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and efficient healthcare environment while adhering to IHS and infection prevention standards. 
Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 24 months of sterile processing experience 

  • Current Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT-CBSPD) certification 

  • Current BLS certification 

  • Valid driver's license if required by the position 

  • Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection prevention, and instrument handling 

  • Ability to meet IHS credentialing and background requirements 

Responsibilities: 

  • Clean, disinfect, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute medical instruments and equipment 

  • Monitor sterilization processes and maintain accurate documentation and inventory records 

  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with infection control and sterilization standards 

  • Maintain sterile processing equipment and report maintenance or repair needs 

  • Support inpatient and outpatient clinical departments by ensuring timely availability of sterile supplies 

  • Float to other departments as needed to support patient care 

  • Comply with IHS policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements
