About the job:
The Staff Lab Assistant is the Labs Customer Service contact. Responsible for greeting laboratory patients, provider, clients, and customers. Ensures the accurate ordering and charge entry of laboratory orders for outpatient and contracted clients. Other Responsibilities include:

  • Processes laboratory requisitions by reviewing requisitions for completeness. Ensures appropriate documentation is present including signatures, patient information, and date of order.
  • Accurately orders the test requests in the computer according to procedure. Responsible for the transfer of test information to medical records.
  • Receives lab reports and routes to designated areas either via FAX, mail or hand-delivery. Phones or Faxes results of STAT reports appropriately and promptly.
  • Prepares laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing and routes specimens by type to various staging areas.
  • Performs all paperwork, technical and non-technical procedures required to process and submit specimens.

Requirements:

  • Education:HS Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Licensure: Valid driver's license
  • No experience required. Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred. Customer Service experience preferred.
