Position Summary

The Paramedic Program Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, organization, planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Paramedic Education Program. The Program Director ensures compliance with all applicable accreditation standards, state regulations, EMS System requirements, and institutional policies while promoting excellence in EMS education and student success.

The Program Director serves as the primary liaison between the educational institution, clinical affiliates, field internship agencies, accrediting organizations, state regulatory agencies, and the EMS Medical Director and EMS Coordinator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Administration

· Direct and oversee all aspects of the Paramedic Education Program.

· Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum consistent with current National EMS Education Standards.

· Ensure compliance with CoAEMSP accreditation standards.

· Maintain compliance with state EMS licensing requirements.

· Coordinate annual program planning and evaluation.

· Prepare accreditation reports, self-studies, and annual reporting requirements.

· Maintain all required program records and documentation.

· Coordinate equipment purchases and educational resources.

· Maintain classroom, laboratory, and simulation equipment.

Curriculum Management

· Develop course schedules and academic calendars.

· Review and update curriculum annually.

· Ensure instructional content reflects current evidence-based practice.

· Integrate simulation, laboratory instruction, clinical education, and field internships.

· Oversee student competency tracking.

· Approve lesson plans and instructional materials.

Student Management

· Oversee admissions and student selection.

· Conduct student orientations.

· Monitor academic progress.

· Counsel students experiencing academic difficulties.

· Address student grievances and disciplinary matters.

· Ensure compliance with attendance and progression policies.

· Recommend graduation eligibility.

Clinical and Field Internship Coordination

· Establish and maintain clinical affiliation agreements.

· Coordinate field internship sites.

· Monitor student clinical performance.

· Ensure sufficient patient contacts and competency opportunities.

· Evaluate clinical preceptors.

· Maintain relationships with EMS agencies and hospitals.
