Job description

Site Safety Coordinator

Role Summary

The Site Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of workplace safety programs. This role involves assisting with action items, conducting safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. The Site Safety Coordinator provides oversight and advancement of safety initiatives, best practices, required protocols, and audits as directed by the EHS department.

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.

  • Point of contact for all safety matters at assigned location(s).
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard assessments throughout the manufacturing environment.
  • Drive safety consistency and standardization throughout assigned location(s) operations.
  • Oversee and track safety incident claims, providing updates as needed.
  • Monitor and enhance workplace ergonomics.
  • Report daily shift activities, including safety observations, concerns, and task events.
  • Assist in the implementation of safety programs and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with work restrictions by employees and supervisors, including Return to Work documentation.
  • Partners with departments regarding training compliance and safety initiatives.
  • Conduct site safety training.
  • Participates in site compliance, review, and audits (internal and external).
  • Follow up on audit findings to ensure prompt closure of corrective action items.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including EHS/HR, production, engineering, and quality assurance, to integrate safety into daily operations.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to improve safety conditions.
  • Collaborate with site leadership and EHS to address workplace safety needs.
  • Demonstrates continuous interest and effort to expand safety competency, particularly as it applies to Visual Pak, including certifications and outside learning.

  • Meets (prefer exceeds) safety performance as measured by the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR).

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize tasks, projects, information and time to be efficient and effective.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential hazards.
  • Knowledgeable to assist with audits, internal and external.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Expected to be able to work with others of varying authority levels as well as create trust among general staff relating to EHS initiatives and best practices.

Technology/Software:

  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Systems.

Communication:

  • Communication skills include listening to others, processing information and expressing themself effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Comfortability speaking to a diverse audience in both interpersonal and in large group settings
  • Bilingual in Spanish, both verbally and written – Preferred.

Physical Capabilities

Strength (lifting, dexterity, repetitive motion):

  • Lift up to 30 lbs. as needed, floor to waist.
  • Carry up to 30 lbs. as needed, up to 25 feet.

Movement (standing, stopping, sitting, crouching, crawling):

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to bend, crouch, and crawl, or position oneself so as to properly inspect situation.

Hearing:

  • Must be able to hear and understand work direction in a loud and distracting environment.

Vision:

  • Must be able to judge distance, identify details, and view the computer screen regularly.
