Job description

MG+M The Law Firm (MG+M) has an immediate opening for a Nurse Paralegal in our Edwardsville office.
MG+M is a nationally renowned litigation law firm concentrating on complex civil matters. The firm's expertise is diverse but focused in the areas of toxic tort, complex product liability, local government, general liability, and commercial litigation. We approach litigation as a unified team, integrating our efforts with those of our clients to advance their interests wherever they do business. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive review, analysis, and summarization of medical records.
  • Evaluate and research medical charts and other medical records for key indicators of diagnosis of malignant disease.
  • Identify key medical findings, timelines, comorbidities, and pre-existing conditions.
  • Perform detailed medical and scientific literature research on current and historical studies to support defense theories and challenge claims.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to determine defense strategy and ensure accurate interpretation and presentation of medical evidence.
  • Support preparation for expert witness depositions, challenging opposing experts, and trial.
Candidate Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Nurse Paralegal, Legal Nurse Consultant, or in a similar litigation support role required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, RN, LNCC certification, or medical background required.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pathology, oncology, and exposure-related diseases preferred. Previous law firm experience and billable time entry preferred.
  • Attendance & Punctuality: Consistently arrive at work and meetings on time; ensure responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with attorneys, other paralegals, and legal administrative assistants.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Customer service: Respond promptly to attorney and client requests for service and assistance; meet commitments.
  • Dependability: Follow instructions, complete tasks on time, work independently, and commit to the hours necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Teamwork: Contribute to building a positive team spirit and support the success of colleagues.
