Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

Provide radiation therapy services to cancer patients as directed by an authorized user (radiation oncology physician) in accordance with the established standards of the department.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Delivers accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy in accordance with the radiation oncologist written directive and maintains legible and accurate records of daily treatment as required.
  • Performs radiation simulations procedures and observes patients for unusual reactions and/or events.
  • Performs procedures related to physics/dosimetry with and without supervision of the physicist and/or dosimetrist.
  • Follows all mandated departmental radiation safety, emergency, and hazardous materials procedures.
  • Reports and records equipment deficiencies to the Manager and/or Bio-Medical Engineering.
  • Responsible for supervision, instruction and education of students.
  • Attends departmental meetings and conferences.
  • Assists in nursing related functions as necessary.
  • Responsible for coordination of work flow to accommodate quality patient care and patient treatments.

Job Requirements
General Requirements
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 60 days of hire. * Radiation Therapy American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registered.

* None
Education
* JRCERT accredited radiation therapy program graduate.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
* Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills. * Demonstrates ability to work as a team member. * Demonstrates ability to work independently as needed.
