Per Diem, Nights

Position Summary:

Processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results; performs operation, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment; acts as resource to other laboratory personnel.  Additional responsibility may include assisting with new equipment validation and implementation; employee training and competency assessment; regulatory compliance responsibilities for CAP, TJC, AABB or other agencies, quality assurance and quality control performance and evaluation.

Delray Medical Center, part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is a 536-bed acute care hospital spanning 30 acres, employing over 1,700 employees, 700 physicians and serving southern Palm Beach County for over 40 years. As both a community hospital and state-designated Level I Trauma Center, Delray Medical Center offers several specialized services including advanced cardiac and vascular facilities, orthopedics, neurosciences, emergency care and weight-loss surgery. Pinecrest Rehabilitation and Outpatient Hospital at Delray Medical Center is the only state designated brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation program in the county by the State of Florida. EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489, or have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by obtaining a Florida State license as a Medical Technologist. The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR 493.1489 and 42 CFR 493.1491).

Meets the requirements to be a Technical Consultant, which is a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, physical, or medical technology plus a minimum of two years training or experience in nonwaived testing. This enables the employee to sign off other employees on competency.

EXPERIENCE:
Required 2 years of experience as a clinical laboratory scientist experience in acute care facility or 1 year of experience and a Master's Degree.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:
Medical Technologist - State of Floridalicensure.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensure in multiple areas; ASCP Certification preferred
