Job description

Cryopak Industries Inc. is seeking a hands-on Engineering Director to lead the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of temperature-controlled packaging solutions for pharmaceutical, life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare, food, and specialty product customers.

This is a leadership role for an engineering professional with strong technical depth in cold chain packaging, thermal validation, product development, and manufacturing support. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading a team while remaining close to technical execution, customer requirements, laboratory testing, and commercialization activities.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and mentor the Engineering team, fostering innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the design, development, validation, and commercialization of temperature-controlled products and systems.
  • Support the development and optimization of cold chain product families, including passive thermal shippers, reusable cooler systems, insulated pallet covers, refrigerants, and sustainable temperature-controlled solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes, production equipment, tooling, automation initiatives, and engineering projects.
  • Lead equipment selection, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee laboratory testing, validation activities, product qualification programs, and engineering investigations.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams to develop customer-focused solutions.
  • Drive innovation, cost reduction initiatives, process optimization, and the introduction of new technologies and manufacturing capabilities.
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience within manufacturing, industrial, packaging, cold chain, medical device, pharmaceutical, automation, or related industries.
  • Must have cold chain packaging experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering professionals and cross-functional projects.
  • Strong understanding of product development, validation, manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, and technical problem-solving.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment, automation systems, production machinery, process optimization, tooling, and capital equipment projects.
  • Experience managing engineering projects involving equipment installation, commissioning, process validation, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • Familiarity with temperature-controlled products, thermal packaging systems, insulated materials, refrigerants, or cold chain technologies would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
  • Bilingual French and English, written and spoken. (will lead and collaborate with teams across Canada and the United States, participate in daily meetings conducted in English, and communicate regularly with clients, suppliers, and business partners located around the world.)
