Froedtert Health is seeking a travel Medical Lab Technician for a travel job in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

Title:  Medical Lab Tech

Location:  Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin

Contract: 13 weeks

Schedule: (7) 10 hour shifts.  Mon/Fri shifts are  0700-1730 Sat/Sun shifts 0800-1830.  Days are clyclical, work Sat/Sun/Mon, off Tues/Wed, work Thurs/Fri, off Sat/Sun/Mon, work Tues/Wed, off Thurs/Fri, repeat.  Cycle may differ slightly contingent on PTO scheduling of technical team. NOTE: Total of 70 hours/2 weeks: 30 one week, 40 next week 

Requirements:  2 years of Medical Lab Tech experience

Prefer hospital generalist experience including operation of Roche Chemistry, Sysmex Hematology and manual Gram stains. Required Education: -Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Medical Laboratory Science (formerly Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology) Required Certifications & Licensure: One of the following is required: -American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS). -American Medical Technologists (AMT) - Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).

Job Summary:
Performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Responsible for quality control, instrument maintenance, and specimen procurement and processing. Performs blood collection duties in a timely manner to ensure availability of test results, as needed. Keeps abreast of changes and updates to technical procedures. Consistently follows established protocols for interpreting and verifying test results. Recognizes abnormal or inconsistent results and investigates appropriately and timely. Notifies leadership of potential problems immediately to avoid compromising patient care. Consistently completes work assignments in a timely manner by prioritizing and multitasking as appropriate. Adjusts to fluctuating workloads, positively cooperating in situations where additional work is required. Maintains workstations in a clean and organized manner. Completes special projects as assigned, utilizing LIS, EMR, and other tools and resources as appropriate. Consistently communicates possible delays, issues, or potential problems to leadership. Voluntarily completes extra projects, duties, or studies as coordinated by leadership when workload permits.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology, including an internship at an affiliated laboratory from an accredited institution is required within 2 months of hire.
- Combined military experience and training that aligns with CLIA and CAP requirements.
- MLT or MLS Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required within 1 year of hire.
- ASCP certification or equivalent is required within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of clinical laboratory experience.
Additional Information:
- Annually provides evidence of participation in continuing education.
- Actively participates in student and new employee training.
- Suggests process improvement opportunities and looks for innovative ways to enhance error prevention.
