Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of Physician or mid-level provider by performing the following duties.


KEY REPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interviews patients and provides office duties such as vital sign measurement, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height. All information, to include medical history, is recorded in patients' charts.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment Hands instruments and materials to provider as directed.
  •  Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials Calls medical facilities to schedule patients for tests.
  • Gives injections or treatments and timely logs this information as required.
  • Schedules appointments for ancillary services.
  •  Maintains office and patient records.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment logs.
  • Responsible for lab controls, in-house lab testing.
  • Manages inventory and proper handling of stocked medications.
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations and responds promptly to customer needs.
  • Understanding of computer software and general knowledge of an electronic medical record program.
  • Assists in all areas of the clinic as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  •  High school diploma or GED, Medical Assistant certificate from college or technical school;
  •  Medical Assistant certification from the certifying institution accredited by the Medical Assistant program,
  • BLS certification
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required and BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
