Job description

Medical Lab Scientist

Location: Reno, NV

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Thursday-Saturday 1800-0630. Every other Wednesday 2200-0630 is also required.

Job Description: The Medical Lab Scientist will be responsible for providing quality and timely laboratory tests for inpatient and outpatient populations spanning all ages. The incumbent will ensure accurate reporting of test results to nursing and medical staff while effectively communicating delays in patient care and answering technical questions as necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Report test results clearly to nursing and medical staff.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families.
  • Assist with technical questions from clinical lab staff and healthcare providers.
  • Float to different areas within the lab as required by the organization.
  • Work on scheduled holidays and additional shifts as necessary.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

  • 2 years of laboratory experience required.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from ASCP.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Nevada license.
