Work Hours 7:45 am-4:30- with a one-hour lunch; Monday-Thursday. On Fridays we work 7:45-3:00. Rarely would you have to work past these hours. We believe strongly in supporting a healthy Work-Life Balance.

Position Summary:

We are looking for an Oral Surgery Insurance Coordinator to be responsible for working with insurance companies to verify patients' benefits, as well as calculating and collecting outstanding payments from patients. The Oral Surgery Insurance Coordinator, will work closely with patients, explain their benefits, communicate any insurance concerns, and manage any insurance disputes. An outstanding Oral Surgery Insurance Coordinator should achieve excellent customer service and share a professional relationship with insurance companies to ensure success in balancing patient benefits with insurance payments.


Responsibilities:

  • Verifying the patient's dental insurance benefits.1 week before appointments.
  • Explaining insurance benefits to patients.
  • Entering data using dental practice management software.
  • Posting payments made by patients.
  • Uploading completed insurance verification forms.
  • Electronic claims filing both medical and dental claims
  • Posting payments 
  • A/R follow up and collections
  • Negotiate fees and schedules with insurance companies
  • Update all CPT and ICD 9/10 codes
  • Interoperate ageing reports
  • EOB breakdowns
  • Re-verify all post-op patients' insurance benefits, if they have additional treatment planned. 
  • Update/Recalculate treatment plans if benefits have changed.
  • Contact the general dentist or referral source for referral and/or panoramic x-ray if indicated.
  • Quote any out-of-pocket expenses required for the appointment. 
  • Answer phone calls by the second ring (This is all front desk personnel's shared responsibility)
  • Communicating with clinical staff regarding upcoming scheduled treatment to ensure all needed products are in the office.
  • Back up treatment planning and check in. 
  • Other duties as directed by supervisor.


Requirements

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrating a positive attitude in the face of difficult or challenging situations
  • High school or equivalent (Required).
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word
  • Minimum of 1 year in a dentist/Oral Surgeons office environment working in insurance is required.
  • Knowledge of dental procedures and insurance billing codes is required.
  • Experience in dental practice management software. OMFS Vision is a plus!
  • Bi-lingual is a plus but not required.
  • A GREAT PERSONALITY!
