Job description

Exercise Physiologist I

Pay Range $24.60 to $36.90

Exercise Physiologist II

Pay Range $28.17 to $42.25

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Exercise Physiologist is responsible for developing and implementing individual exercise prescriptions for customer-owners and facilitates and supervises exercise classes and programs. Monitors, interprets, and documents vital signs and physiological responses to exercise. Works closely with integrated multidisciplinary teams, divisions, and villages to address customer-owner’s individualized needs and/or chronic conditions.

This position has two (2) levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between job levels is based on the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.

Qualifications:

SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. Such knowledge is critical to ensure the achievement of SCF’s vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, and mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or related field (e.g. Kinesiology).
  2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO and PALS as required for specialty and any certification relating to the scope of practice as required.

Additional Qualifications for Exercise Physiologist II: Meets all requirements of Exercise Physiologist I in addition to the following:

  1. Two (2) years of experience in a health care setting wellness program with experience in preventative health, rehabilitation, and exercise education; OR Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or related field (e.g. Kinesiology).
  2. Certification in a relevant clinical exercise program (e.g. American College of Sports Medicine – Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist; American College of Sports Medicine – Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist; American Council on Exercise – Medical Exercise Specialist Certification).

Compliance with our Employee Health Procedure is a condition of SCF employment.  You are required to agree that you will comply with all job-related employee health screening and immunizations prior to your first day of employment.  Jobs designated as a Health Care Personnel (HCP) position, requires that you have documentation that you have completed the following immunizations prior to your first day of employment: MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Influenza, T-dap (Tetanus - Diphtheria - Pertussis), and COVID-19 vaccination is required.
