Job description

Medical Equipment Technician / Customer Service Representative (CSR)Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Medical Equipment Technician / CSR to support patients using sleep PAP and other Durable Medical Equipment (DME). This role combines hands-on equipment delivery and setup with patient education and high-quality service. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable, and passionate about improving patient outcomes in a home-care setting.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients using sleep PAP and other DME equipment
  • Deliver, set up, and maintain medical equipment in patient homes, including oxygen systems
  • Educate patients and caregivers on proper use, care, and maintenance of respiratory and HME equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, including urgent or emergency situations
  • Complete accurate documentation of patient visits, setups, and follow-ups
  • Manage inventory and ensure timely, accurate delivery of equipment
  • Process orders efficiently and maintain detailed reporting
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
  • Conduct patient assessments and re-assessments as needed
  • Ensure documentation meets reimbursement and compliance requirements
  • Promote products and services to referral sources in the community
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to compliance programs
  • Follow all safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and HIPAA guidelines
  • Safely operate and maintain a company vehicle
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide service coverage as needed
  • Travel throughout the designated service area to support patients

Required Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience working with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and customer service
  • 2–3 years of face-to-face customer service experience
  • Valid state driver’s license (IN required)
  • Ability to lift 75–85 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a service territory

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills
  • Experience with respiratory or sleep therapy equipment
  • Previous home healthcare or patient-facing experience
  • Familiarity with compliance and reimbursement documentation

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, and handling of medical equipment
  • Extended driving and daily travel between warehouse and patient homes
  • Exposure to varying home environments, including occasional unsanitary conditions
  • Possible exposure to loud environments, hazardous materials, and extreme temperatures
  • Ability to safely navigate diverse neighborhoods and customer situations
  • Must be able to independently access patient residences
