Medical Director (Addiction Medicine) - Englewood, NJ
Position Overview
Boca Recovery Center is seeking a Medical Director to provide clinical leadership for our medical detox and residential substance use disorder treatment facility in Englewood, New Jersey.
This role is ideal for a physician with strong experience in addiction medicine and substance use treatment who is looking for a part-time leadership position with flexible on-site requirements. The Medical Director will oversee medical and clinical services, ensuring high-quality care, regulatory compliance, and effective treatment outcomes for individuals beginning their recovery journey.
Key Qualifications
  • Active New Jersey Medical License (required)
  • Willingness to obtain DEA and CDS licenses under the facility address (costs reimbursed)
  • Board Certified in Addiction Medicine or minimum 5+ years of verifiable experience in substance use disorder treatment
  • Availability for approximately 20 hours per week
  • Not required to be full-time on-site, but must be responsive and accessible to staff as needed

Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    • Provide clinical leadership and oversight of detoxification and residential treatment services
    • Conduct or oversee medical and/or psychiatric evaluations for new clients in accordance with state and facility requirements
    • Ensure appropriate follow-up care, referrals, and coordination for clients with medical or psychiatric needs
    • Develop, implement, and monitor detoxification and withdrawal management protocols
    • Oversee all medical and pharmacological treatment services, ensuring compliance with federal and New Jersey state regulations
    • Maintain compliance with DEA, CDS, and Board of Pharmacy requirements
    • Collaborate with APRNs and PAs through required supervisory or collaborative agreements
    • Ensure quality assurance measures, including drug utilization reviews and medication safety protocols
    • Uphold policies related to client rights, confidentiality (HIPAA), and ethical care standards
    • Establish and maintain systems for coordinated care both within the facility and with external providers
    • Designate appropriate medical coverage to ensure continuous clinical oversight

Preferred Experience
    • Extensive experience in substance use disorder treatment, particularly detoxification and withdrawal management
    • Strong understanding of co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders
    • Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation standards for addiction treatment facilities
    • Experience working within inpatient or residential treatment settings
    • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Schedule & Commitment
    • Approximately 20 hours per week
