UCT is seeking an experiencedMaterials Program Manager IIto join our team inAustin, TX!

The Materials Program Manager will work with various functions and departments to drive material flow and ensure visibility of current & future material issues. It will be the core member of supporting materials strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Planner to ensure visibility of current & future material issues.
  • Work with Production Managers to understand Critical Production schedules.
  • Coordinates demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
  • Participates in Materials Core Team and coordinates product development process deliverables with team members (buyers, planners, production control).
  • Supports the creation, releases, and updates to new project materials strategy.
  • Works with engineering to identify preliminary critical parts, long-lead parts, and inspection requirements. Assists in developing supplier and commodity road maps to engineering.
  • Material risk BOM analysis at the project level:
  • Design the inventory programs: VMI, JIT, discrete orders, etc. – driving lead-time reduction.
  • Recommend risk buy or consignment.
    (This relates to impact inventory liability, inventory turns, cash flow relief, etc. – due to upsides, downside, slow down of businesses more effectively).
  • Burst demand request by customers – assess entire BOM materials lead-times, chronic suppliers, customer-managed allocations, etc., then present from a materials perspective how to support burst demand plan to support operations.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain Program managers for localization or regionalization of OEM & BTP parts.
  • Work with SCM on long-term supply chain mitigation plan via localization or alternate sourcing to ease the supply chain for the Program/Tool.
  • Leads project team that may include different functions and departments to solve supplier long-term issues and improve supplier performance. Provides inputs to engineering and SCM in supplier selection and assessment.
  • Analyze system need dates, supplier commitments, and current production status to identify critical material issues.
  • Escalate critical material shortages immediately upon identification and own the efforts to resolve and continue to escalate.
  • Lead clear to build (CTB) for pre-production build phases.
  • Propose optimized supply planning to ensure on-time build schedule. Drive closure of materials issues.
  • Collaborate with supply chain functions for support as needed.
  • Participates in the commercialization (transition) materials plan and the material change control process.
  • Assists in supplier price and delivery negotiations; Complete supplier risk assessment on critical and unique parts. Monitor supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost).
  • Develop and execute risk/opportunity plans to meet program objectives & proactively manage mitigation plans.
  • Track KPI’s and generate Reports, Metrics & Presentations.
  • Support planning & coordination of new Projects, New components, and Engineering Changes and assess the impact to Production Schedules.
  • Consistently work on Demand & Supply to proactively identify gaps and work with planner buyers and Strategic procurement to eliminate the gaps.
  • Work with Engineering & Program Management to develop roadmaps for the phase-out of obsolete parts and phase-in of new product materials.
  • This position will support customers to act as the crucial link between the customer and Materials Supply Chain.

Educational/Certification Requirement:
  • Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business
Experience Requirement: Work Experience:
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong purchasing experience in commodity management and customer-facing experience.
  • Flexible to support work with US counterparts. Will have frequent communications with cross-functional teams in the US and Asia.
  • Experience in the position of Materials Program Manager (MPM) and/or Procurement.
  • Experience with product design engineering and commodity management or priorities for raw material or component selection.
  • Experience integrating the delivery schedule of materials into product program milestones.
  • Working knowledge of Materials Requirements Planning (preferred SAP) and Bill of Material Structure tools (preferred Agile).
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
