Role Summary

The Product Quality Inspection Specialist is primarily responsible for performing incoming and final inspections of manufactured veterinary products to verify conformance with engineering drawings, product specifications, dimensions, tolerances, labeling requirements, acceptance criteria, and applicable quality standards. This is a hands-on inspection role involving routine interpretation of engineering drawings and manufactured products while conducting visual, dimensional, functional, packaging, and labeling inspections using appropriate inspection equipment.

The position also supports complaint investigations, supplier quality activities, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and quality system processes within an ISO-based quality management system. The successful candidate will possess professional experience inspecting manufactured products in a regulated manufacturing or distribution environment rather than laboratory-based quality testing.

Screening Statement

Successful candidates will have professional experience inspecting manufactured products against engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, acceptance criteria, and labeling requirements. Candidates whose experience is primarily laboratory testing, microbiology, analytical chemistry, food safety, food production, hospital quality, patient care, clinical quality, academic research, internships, or volunteer activities without direct manufactured product inspection responsibilities are unlikely to meet the requirements of this position.

Key Responsibilities (Priority Order)

  • Perform incoming and final inspections of manufactured veterinary products using approved specifications, engineering drawings, inspection procedures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, labeling requirements, and product specifications to verify product conformance.
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, functional, packaging, and labeling inspections using calipers, rulers, gauges, force gauges, and other inspection equipment, as applicable.
  • Document inspection results in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Identify, document, and disposition product nonconformances; communicate quality concerns to management.
  • Assist with development and revision of inspection methods, acceptance criteria, inspection records, and product specifications.
  • Monitor inspection trends and identify recurring quality issues.
  • Support complaint investigations, CAPAs, SCARs, supplier quality investigations, and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in change management, internal audits, supplier quality initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Physical Sciences, or another technical discipline directly related to manufactured products.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional quality experience within medical device, veterinary product, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or similar regulated manufacturing/distribution environments.
  • Minimum 2 years performing incoming and/or final inspections of manufactured products using engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, acceptance criteria, and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience identifying and documenting product nonconformances.
  • Working knowledge of ISO-based quality management systems (ISO 13485 preferred).
  • Professional experience supporting complaint investigations, CAPAs, and supplier quality activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting and/or developing engineering drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience evaluating manufactured products against engineering drawings.
  • Experience with molded plastic components, medical devices, veterinary products, packaging, or accessory products.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, force measurement devices, and similar inspection equipment.
  • Experience with SCARs, supplier quality investigations, and risk assessment.
