Job description

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team! This role offers a hybrid schedule with two (2) days per week in office at our Daleville Data Center located in Daleville, Indiana. We are seeking candidates who are within a reasonable commuting distance of our Daleville location and can reliably meet the in-office requirements. This position will be responsible for protecting technological assets by establishing and enforcing system and network access controls. This role focuses on the delivery of core security improvements and operations in partnership with IT and IS to include the management of firewalls, vulnerability assessments review and remediation, encryption methodologies, systems and network security.
As part of this role you will:
  • Manage, monitor and implement the corporate network firewall systems.
  • Recommend enhancements and purchases based on industry best practices.
  • Manage projects through planning an execution.
  • Perform internal infrastructure and business application risk assessments to determine current state of security operations and identify areas that require additional focus.
  • Review and consult with IT on various technologies including network security, logs, routers, switches, hubs, corporate applications and general cybersecurity related resources.
  • Configure and maintain network firewalls in partnership with IT.
  • Ensure all equipment complies with industry standards.
  • Implement, maintain and monitor network security and performance.
  • Engage in partnership with IT and recommend cybersecurity related enhancements across various IT systems and network.
  • Perform periodic attestation, control and performance procedures as deemed necessary.
  • Perform complex analysis on controls and logs to determine issues and report to management.
  • Participate in Cybersecurity Operations on-call program.

In order to be successful in this position, we require the following:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in data security operating in a medium to large LAN/WAN environment.

The following would be a plus:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science
  • Over five (5) years of relevant work experience
  • Technical certifications - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
