Medical Content Manager information

What is a medical content manager?

A Medical Content Manager is a professional responsible for creating, reviewing, and managing medical or healthcare-related content for organizations such as hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, or health media outlets. They ensure that content is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant regulations and guidelines. Medical Content Managers often collaborate with subject matter experts, writers, and editors to produce educational materials, articles, or marketing collateral. Their work supports communication efforts aimed at healthcare professionals, patients, or the general public.

How does a medical content manager collaborate with medical writers, subject matter experts, and regulatory teams in the content development process?

A Medical Content Manager typically serves as the central coordinator between medical writers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and regulatory teams throughout the content development process. They facilitate clear communication, manage timelines, and ensure that all content is accurate, compliant with industry regulations, and aligns with editorial standards. By organizing review cycles, providing constructive feedback, and integrating input from various stakeholders, Medical Content Managers help deliver high-quality medical materials efficiently. This collaborative approach helps maintain scientific integrity and ensures that all content meets both clinical and regulatory requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a medical content manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Medical Content Manager, you need a solid background in medical writing, content strategy, and healthcare communications, often supported by a science degree and experience in medical publishing. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), referencing tools like EndNote, and regulatory guidelines such as AMA or ICMJE is typically required. Strong attention to detail, project management abilities, and excellent collaboration and communication skills set top performers apart. These competencies ensure the creation of accurate, compliant, and engaging medical content that supports organizational goals and builds trust with audiences.

Job description

Sharecare is the leading digital health company that helps people - no matter where they are in their health journey - unify and manage all their health in one place. Our comprehensive and data-driven virtual health platform is designed to help people, providers, employers, health plans, government organizations, and communities optimize individual and population-wide well-being by driving positive behavior change. Driven by our philosophy that we are all together better, at Sharecare, we are committed to supporting each individual through the lens of their personal health and making high-quality care more accessible and affordable for everyone. To learn more, visit www.sharecare.com.

Sharecare is hiring a Social Media Manager and Content Creator for Sharecare and AskMD, our personal health guide that helps people go from "What's wrong?" to "What do I do about it." This is one role that blends two skill sets: you own the day-to-day strategy and operations of our social channels, and you are hands-on creative who can shape, produce, and when it helps, appear in the content itself. Looking for someone with real creative chops: a strong sense of story, an eye for what performs, and the ability to turn an idea into a finished post. You bring the strategy, the creative instincts, and the operational rigor, and we bring the platform, the production support, the budget, and the brand.

AskMD is a personal health guide from Sharecare. When something feels off, it helps people understand what is happening, what to do next, and where to go, with guidance based on them, their coverage, and their options. It offers guidance and clear next steps, not a diagnosis, and it never replaces a doctor.

What you’ll do
  • Own the day-to-day management of Sharecare and AskMD’s social channels, including strategy, the content calendar, publishing, and platform-native best practices across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Concept, script, and produce recurring short-form series built around everyday health moments, from myth-busting to man-on-the-street interviews and live event content
  • Create content hands-on: shoot, edit, write captions, and step in front of the camera when a moment calls for it
  • Leverage artificial intelligence tools to automate and scale social media content creation and increase campaign efficiency.
  • Coordinate with writers, producers, editors, and Atlanta collaborators to keep a fast, test-and-learn pipeline moving
  • Manage community engagement: respond, moderate, and build relationships with the audience and with Atlanta creators, athletes, and partners
  • Track performance against clear goals, report on what is working, and use insights to shape the content roadmap
  • Support launches, live events, and collaborations across Atlanta sports, culture, and wellness
  • Route anything that touches health guidance through Sharecare’s brand and clinical review so content stays safe and on brand
What we’re looking for
  • 3+ years managing brand or creator social channels, with a track record of audience and engagement growth
  • Hands-on creative skills: you can concept, shoot, and edit short-form video, and you are comfortable on voice or camera when the content needs it
  • Experienced with or open to AI-assisted production tools
  • Deep fluency in Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube: formats, trends, and what makes people stop scrolling
  • A strong sense of story and voice, with a sharp eye for brand consistency
  • Strong project management skills, comfortable coordinating talent, and contributors on tight timelines
  • An analytical mindset: you set goals, read the numbers, and act on them
  • Based in Atlanta and plugged into the city’s culture, sports, and events
  • Comfortable with a fast, iterative pace
  • Interest in health and wellness a plus (no medical background required, we have the clinicians)
A few ground rules

This is health-adjacent entertainment, not medical advice. We keep it fun, and we never diagnose or play doctor. Anything that touches health guidance gets a look from Sharecare’s brand and clinical teams, so you can push creatively without worrying about the fine print.
