POSITION SUMMARY
Provides first line of health care in the village clinic setting under the guidance of the Clinic Supervisor, higher level certified CHA, and CHP C/I. Must be readily available to attend the training requirements to advance to a level CHA-I. Must work within scope of practice and cannot exceed the level of training completed. Reports directly to the CHP/Clinic Supervisor or designee.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Works scheduled hours in clinic as arranged by Clinic Supervisor and/or CHAP Administration.
  2. Must complete training requirements for the following: Community Health Aide Manual (CHAM) training, Pre-Session, and ETT or EMT training prior to being scheduled for health aide session training.
  3. After successful completion of Pre-Session can obtain vital signs for higher level CHA's and/or the Medical Staff providers.
  4. Must maintain EMS certification to provide emergency assistance to higher level CHA's and/or mid-level providers.
  5. Assists with Acute and Emergency care per CHAM at level of training.This includes but is not limited to:
    1. Assists Clinic Supervisor and higher level CHA's with evaluation, documentation on PEF and treatment of acute health problems.
  6. Preventive patient care per CHAM at level of training by observing higher level providers who provide patient care.
    1. Provide assistance to PHN as needed.
    2. Provide assistance to the WIC Program for eligible clients.
  7. Chronic patient care per CHAM at level of training which includes:
    1. Assists with monitoring patients on long-term medications.
    2. Assists with providing medication refills in coordination with MHC Pharmacy for the higher level providers.
  8. Provide health administration at level of training, which includes:
    1. Daily medical logs for each patient encounter for WIC and medication refills.
    2. Replenish supplies for the exam and lab rooms.
    3. Maintains clinic pharmacy, medical supplies, and forms.
    4. Clean medical equipment and exam rooms using standard guidelines.
  9. Performs and/or assumes other job related duties as needed.
  10. Must attend and successfully complete all health aide session training.
  11. Demonstrate a positive role model representing CHAP and his/her respective community.
  12. Travel to villages as needed for training purposes and to maintain CME's.
Job Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent, and must successfully complete the TABE test requirements. Must attend training as scheduled. Willing and able to provide village medical health services on a routine and emergency basis and the ability to provide services under stressful situations. Ability to lift 50lbs, stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to speak Inupiaq desirable.
