Job description

Job Title: Med Surg Registered Nurse

Location: Miami VA Healthcare System (including 7 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics)

Period of Performance: 03/12/2025 – 03/11/2030

Shift Schedule: 7:30pm - 8am

Position Description: The RN will provide care in an acute care medical/surgical unit within a teaching and research environment. The role encompasses services related to spinal cord injuries, telemetry, orthopedics, medicine, oncology, neurology, acute rehabilitation, general surgery, and post-operative care.


Key Responsibilities:

Unit Description: Services include spinal cord, telemetry, orthopedics, medicine, oncology, neurology, acute rehabilitation, general surgery and other post- operative services within a teaching and research environment.

Skills: RN to work on an acute care medical/surgical unit shall be responsible for patient’s assessments, medication administration, IV therapy, interdisciplinary team coordination, telemetry monitoring, admissions, discharges, internal and external transfers, delegating to assistive personnel, electronic medical record documentation, patient transport, and emergency response procedures. Shall be BLS & ACLS certified. RN shall demonstrate competency for NGT insertion, chest tubes, trach care, dressing changes, monitor patient condition, report and treat applicable findings, IV insertions, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, twelve lead EKG, Foley Cather insertion and discontinuation, Doppler pressure, Orthostatic blood pressure, wound therapy, (wound vac), dressing changes, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Blood transfusion, blood draw, Drug Administration (Bar Code Medication and Administration (BCMA), bladder irrigation and other


Requirements: 

The personnel assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this task order shall possess an unrestricted license to practice nursing in one of the States, Territories, or Commonwealths of the United States or the District of Columbia.
