Position Description

Provides Gordon Food Service (GFS) customers with timely, proper maintenance on equipment within the market area and effectively manages parts and equipment expenses. Penetrates sales of existing accounts and maintains existing chemical and beverage dispensed business and supports sales in assigned territory.

As a Service Technician you will be the trusted expert that provides installation, preventative maintenance and servicing of coffee machines, juice machines, dishwashers, and chemical dispensing machines for a variety of customers including national accounts, healthcare, college and university, hospitality and large independent food service operators all while upholding the Standards of Performance.

Location

The successful candidate should be based out of Winnipeg.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 40-48 hours per week, with flexibility to provide exceptional customer service

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Installation: Coordinate and perform scheduled installs, preventative maintenance, and equipment repairs using manuals, schematics, and standard tools.

  • Emergency Response: Provide 24/7 emergency services and efficient project follow-up.

  • Territory & Sales Growth: Penetrate existing accounts to increase sales and maintain an optimized territory schedule.

  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide technical and equipment support to Product Specialists and Customer Development Specialists (CDS).

  • Communication & Rapport: Build professional relationships with internal and external customers, and report field opportunities to the Regional Manager.

  • Documentation: Log all field activities in Metrx/Mobile software and complete administrative paperwork in a timely manner.

  • Goal & Time Management: Plan daily schedules effectively to meet productivity, expense-reduction, and sales goals.

  • Training & Inventory: Conduct in-service sessions on equipment operation and perform regular inventory cycle counts on parts.

  • Professional Development: Attend meetings, track industry trends, and maintain peer relationships to share field insights.

  • Company Culture: Align all actions with organizational mission and cornerstone values.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience & Competencies

  • High School / Equivalent required

  • Valid State Driver's License required

  • Two years previous sales and equipment repair experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required

  • Mechanical Aptitude - displays strong mechanical aptitude; adheres to all electrical, plumbing, health and sanitation codes; adheres to safety protocols. Knowledge of products, equipment, and tools needed to complete the tasks required of this job (install/maintain/fix). Ability to correctly interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams

  • Sales & Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques.

  • Customer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; ability to display professional quality work and service.

  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Problem Solving - Identifying moderate problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Refers to supervisor, manuals, policies and practices for guidance.

  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
