Job description

As a part time (0.6 FTE) Medical Consultant working on Practice Management and Registration cases in the Quality/Registrationdepartments,you will report through the Senior Medical Consultant totheAssistant Registrar (Quality).

You willwork collaboratively withthe Quality, Registration and Complaints & Investigation teams at CPSM toassess and advise on complex cases requiring regular medical consultant oversight. This may include cases where the registrant is involved in multiple areas at the college, including complex QualityAssurance(QA)monitoring,referrals from Complaints and Investigations, registrantswith undertakings, complex involvement with RegionalHealthAuthorityleadership,provisional registrantsandrecognized training route registrants under supervision,as well ascaseswithcomplex registration issues and concerns.

You willassistwithRegistration projects, includingproviding feedback onpolicies relating to qualifications and credentialingand reviewingpractice descriptions for ClinicalAssistantsandPhysicianAssistants.

As aMedical Consultantyouwilldemonstrateleadership bypromotingthe importance andessentialresponsibilities of self-regulation, and the CPSM mandate of public protection whilemaintainingthe educational supportive focus of the Quality Department and fostering a positive workplace culture within the department. You will be engaged in system level outputs that require systems level thinking, strategy and collaboration.

  • Provideguidance toupdate bylawsand regulationsimpactingqualitydepartment
  • Meetestablishedprocessandproceduretimelinesaccording to establishedqualitydepartmentguidelines
  • Addressproblemsthat arisein processes and operationsin accordance withCPSMprocedures
  • Speak/correspond with registrantsandother healthcare professionals directly tofacilitateinformation collectionand analysis, problem solving, provide educationand support
  • Connect with other external subject matter experts/consultantsandcommunity resources to support registrants
  • Connect and collaborate with otherregulatory authorities
  • UpdateAssistant Registrarregularlyto ensureinformedregardingimportant issuesand other data collectedintheseportfolios
  • Participatein meetingsandconferences related to program work
  • Prepare andprovideeducationandsupporttothe CollegeandCPSMregistrants

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • The consultant will be a licensedphysicianmember of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitobaoreligible for full registration and licensure in Manitoba.
  • Clinical experienceofeight yearsminimum
    Note:broad scopes of practicearepreferred
  • Practice experience in and familiarity with Manitobaor a Manitoban physician network preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability torepresentthe College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitobalocally and nationally asrequiredtoestablishrapport and trust toacquirethe needed informationto enhance programs and processes
  • Ability to create andmaintainrapport with various levels and types ofinterested parties
