At Garden Spot Village, our Resident Care Assistants play a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and daily well-being of residents. This position provides hands-on care, encourages resident engagement in activities, and helps maintain a comfortable and dignified environment for all residents.

What You’ll Do

  • Comply with established policies, procedures, and standards, including the Compliance Program/Code of Conduct
  • Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times
  • Treat all resident information as confidential
  • Treat residents, families, visitors, and peers with dignity and respect, maintaining a cheerful and positive attitude
  • Ensure residents’ privacy, respect, dignity, and rights in accordance with State and Federal regulations
  • Report any unusual observations or conditions to the Med Tech or LPN on duty
  • Encourage residents to remain active and attend social functions and programs
  • Assist with the implementation of activity programs as needed
  • Support residents with personal care, including bathing, continence care, oral hygiene, hair grooming, dressing, care of personal possessions, use of telephone, scheduling and reminders of appointments, ambulation, bed-making, and weekly linen changes
  • Assist with new resident admissions, including unpacking, orientation, and explanation of activities and meal schedules
  • Respond promptly to resident call bells
  • Assist at meal times according to departmental policy
  • Take and document vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, and accu-checks
  • Attend department meetings, staff meetings, and training programs
  • Practice safety for self and residents, reporting any unsafe conditions to the Med Tech or LPN
  • Make continuous rounds to observe and check on residents’ comfort and safety
  • Ensure residents are charged appropriately for supplies and additional services
  • Assist in training peers
  • Participate in monthly fire drills and assist with the prompt evacuation of residents
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in healthcare or related field preferred but not required
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain after hire)
  • Diabetic Training (or willingness to obtain after hire)
  • Commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Understanding of and alignment with the philosophy and corporate values of Garden Spot Communities
  • Must rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays as scheduled
  • May be required to work during emergency conditions (short staffing, severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
  • May be asked to work overtime to ensure adequate staffing

Additional Information

Shifts Available:

Day shift - 6am-2:30pm (every other weekend)

Day shift - 6am-2:30pm (4, 6, and 10 days bi-weekly available)

Evenings - 5pm-9:30pm (6 days biweekly)
