Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the clinical direction of an LCSW and as a part of a multidisciplinary team, the Behavioral Health Provider will provide direct services including individual (child, youth and adults), couple, family and group therapeutic services to patients, including assessments, treatment plans and discharge planning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Interviews client to obtain information concerning social, psychological and medical history or other pertinent information.
  2. Work directly in treatment relationships with patients/clients in coordination of consultation with SCIHP psychiatrist, primary care, and pharmacy services.
  3. Provides education and interprets psychiatric treatment to patients and provides clinical case management to support psychiatric treatment and services.
  4. Provides clinically necessary services to adults, children and their families, including intake, evaluation, assessment, crisis intervention, individualized treatment planning, case management, psychotherapy, after-care planning and rehabilitation planning that integrate best practice models in addressing the presenting clinical conditions and disorders.
  5. Requests various tests such as psychological tests, personality inventories, and intelligence quotient tests, to identify behavioral or personality traits and intelligence levels, and records results as needed.
  6. Provides counseling in individual, group, and family settings that is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and culturally relevant in an interdisciplinary setting (with primary care providers and psychiatrist).
  7. Attend weekly Clinical Case Council with clinical staff as part of a comprehensive treatment team, contributing to positive professional and practice development.
  8. Attend weekly individual supervision with the Supervising LCSW.
  9. Ability to chart and bill using the County billing system or Medi-Cal billing (EPIC).
  10. Perform documentation, using standardized best practices in the field, and tracks all clinical documentations in electronic health record systems, paper records, and other data management systems as required in an efficient, secure, and timely manner, in accordance with agency policy and procedure.  Support all evaluation and data reporting requirements.
  11. Refers client to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling.
  12. Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Possession of a master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or degree program that meets the requirements stipulated in Business and Professions Code §4980.36.
  • Hold & maintain current, valid & unrestricted LCSW professional license, Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW) registration, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Associated Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Knowledge of theory and treatment practices of intrapsychic, interpersonal and social problems; community mental health; alcohol and other drug abuse interventions; and community agencies and resources that assist with physical and emotional wellness.
  • CPR-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
  • Child-centered Play therapy & ability to provide comprehensive diagnostic clinical assessment for behavioral health a plus.

COMPUTER SKILLS:  

  • Electronic Health Records systems experience, ability to learn and use EPIC.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of current, valid and unrestricted LCSW license, ACSW registration, LMFT license, or AMFT registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Understanding of case management techniques in community health care setting.
  • Ability to work with clients, families and staff in a caring and respectful manner, and with due understanding of and consideration for cultural differences.
  • Ability to develop, evaluate, implement and modify a treatment plan, meeting all deadlines and productivity standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with staff and coworkers, clients, families and the public.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and timely documentation, reports and other written material as assigned using computer and computer software assigned.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to internal and external laws, rules, and policies.
  • Ability to secure the cooperation of and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work independently, and to conform to all applicable safety and accountability measures.
  • Understanding California mandated reporting laws.
