Description: Medical Assisting Instructor, Part Time
Salary Range: $688.00 per credit hour; with personal paid leave and other part-time benefits
Position Summary: Illinois Valley Community College is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible person to teach and assess student learning in the Medical Assistant Program. The instructor will work with the Dean of Health Professions and other Medical Assistant Program faculty, to provide institutional, program, and course student learning outcomes that meet CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for Medical Assisting Programs and HLC accreditation standards. In collaboration with colleagues, the candidate will strive for ongoing curriculum evaluation and improvement within the context of IVCC's general education philosophy and facilitate student learning outside of the classroom through participation in student activities, college, and community events.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED
  • Associate's degree in a health-related field.
  • Credentialed in good standing in medical assisting as either a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Three years of experience working in a healthcare facility, including a minimum of 160 hours in ambulatory care.
  • Ability to stand and lecture for extended periods of time.

PREFERRED
  • Instruction in educational theory and techniques.
  • One year teaching experience in postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education.
  • Experience in curriculum design, instructing, evaluation, program planning and design, and academic advising.
