Assistant Supervisor - Shipping

Position Summary

The Assistant Supervisor provides leadership support to the Shipping Department by assisting in the coordination of daily operations, workforce management, and overall department performance. This role plays a key part in ensuring customer orders are processed and shipped accurately, efficiently, and on time while maintaining quality, safety, and operational standards.


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor department workflow to ensure timely and accurate delivery of customer orders
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating daily shipping operations
  • Support supervision of employees directly or through team leads, including training, performance management, and development
  • Coordinate carrier pickup schedules and ensure alignment with shipping timelines
  • Assist in managing employee performance, including onboarding new hires and ensuring ongoing training is up to date
  • Support the planning and execution of department activities in a safe and organized work environment in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Oversee incoming stock and supplies for the department
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, including housekeeping and cleanliness of work areas
  • Operate department-specific equipment as needed
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving operational issues in a timely manner
  • Support a high-volume shipping operation that may run 24/7 during peak periods
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support various shifts as needed
  • Support supervision of approximately 40 employees during non-peak periods and up to 300 temporary employees during peak seasons
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Experience in a shipping or distribution environment

Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

The expected salary range for this position is $19.00-$23.00 hourly. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law.
