Optum Dermatology is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing team in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. Located in a vibrant community, our practice serves as a hub for outpatient care, specializing in areas such as internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, and dermatology. Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of seasoned physicians, nurses, and support staff, all of whom are committed to improving patient outcomes and providing compassionate care. The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evenings or weekends as needed for special events or emergencies.

• Efficiently handle administrative tasks including scheduling patient appointments, updating electronic health records (EHR), and maintaining accurate medical charts to ensure optimal patient flow.
• Warmly greet patients upon arrival, collect their comprehensive medical histories, and prepare them for examinations or treatments, ensuring a comfortable experience.
• Assist physicians during patient examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries, showcasing knowledge of medical equipment to facilitate a sterile and organized environment.
• Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring meticulous labeling and documentation in alignment with established protocols.
• Administer medications and vaccinations, including injections, under the supervision of physicians, adhering strictly to safety protocols and dosage guidelines.
• Conduct basic laboratory tests like urinalysis and EKGs, accurately interpreting results and maintaining detailed records for physician review.
• Educate patients about medication usage, treatment procedures, and healthcare guidelines, leveraging strong communication skills to enhance their understanding.
• Perform routine patient care tasks such as measuring vital signs, documenting patient information, and maintaining a neat environment in examination rooms.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic by sterilizing instruments and ensuring adequate inventory of medical supplies at all times.
• Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, actively engaging in discussions to facilitate comprehensive treatment plans.

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited body, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Medical Technologists (AMT) is required.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology, reflecting a broad understanding of clinical practices.
• Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other medical software for efficient patient documentation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate compassionate and effective interactions with patients and healthcare teams.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and perform effectively in a high-pressure setting.

Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting, particularly within dermatology or primary care, is advantageous. Familiarity with a variety of medical procedures and laboratory testing, along with an adept understanding of patient care processes, will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
