Position: Full Time Medical Assistant

Department: Pain Management - Columbianaย  ย  ย  ย 

Shift: Days, 8 hr shift

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of a Medical Assistant is to perform assigned duties in an efficient manner, in accordance with the established procedures, and as directed by the Office Manager and/or licensed physician(s) to assure that a successful viable office is maintained at all times.ย  You are responsible to perform selected nursing and administrative/clerical duties that assist in patient care management, minor patient triage, administering first aid, performing laboratory and clinical tests, and assisting the physician in the office environment.ย  Must care for a patient population that includes infants, adolescents and geriatrics, therefore, must be able to identify the special needs of each patient according to age and respond appropriately.ย  Attached is an outline of the major duties and responsibilities you will be required to perform and the standards you are expected to meet in performing those duties and responsibilities.ย 

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements/training:

High school diploma required. Technical or Vocational training as a Clinical Medical Assistant required.ย  Certification preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of one year experience preferred.ย  Experience performing prior authorizations.

Job Skills:

Requires reading and understanding of moderately complex or detailed documents containing some unusual words and phrases.ย  Requires arithmetic ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.ย  Requires Clinical skills related to patient intake, injections, phlebotomy, clia testing and other clinical medical assistant duties. Some typing or word processing is required, general forms and/or internal memos or short letters.ย  Requires computer skills for basic data entry and retrieval.ย  Experience using and documenting in Electronic Health Records (EHR), or Electronic Medical Records (EMR).ย  Ten finger keyboard typing skills are required.ย  Experience performing prior authorizations preferred.ย  BLS certification preferred but not required.
