Overview

Medical Assistants provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit/department operations under direct supervision of a physician, APRN, PA, or RN. Assignment of job responsibilities are delegated by the medical provider, RN, Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager or Resource Manager assigned to supervise the Care Assistant and in accordance with this job description.

Responsibilities
  • Provides supportive patient care.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficient and safe operations.
  • Performs clerical functions.
  • Attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
  • Shares responsibility for teaching and orientation of new personnel (within own skill level).
Qualifications
  • HS diploma or equivalent and
    • 1-2 years experience
      • 1 year of experience in patient or customer facing roles
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • One of the following required upon hire:
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
    • Certified Medical Assistant
    • Registered Medical Assistant
    • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant
    • National Certified Medical Assistant 
  • BLS certification Required Upon Hire
  • Previous Cardiology experience preferred (1 year)

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $19.68/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
